One of the biggest mistakes I see businesses make with video is thinking they only need one.
They hire someone, make one promotional video, post it to their website or Facebook page, and then move on.
There is nothing wrong with having a great promotional video. But if you are already investing the time and money into a professional video shoot, you can get a lot more out of it.
Instead of thinking about making one video, I think businesses should start thinking about building a content library.
That is something I have started focusing on more with Apex Rotors.
What Is a Content Library?
A content library is basically a collection of professional photos and videos that your business can use over time.
Instead of leaving a shoot with one finished video, you could leave with:
A main promotional video
Several short vertical videos
Website footage
Social media clips
Professional photos
Drone footage
Behind-the-scenes content
Clips for future advertisements
Content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube
The exact amount depends on the project, but the idea is simple.
Get more out of the time you already spent filming.
One Shoot Can Create Weeks of Content
Let's say a local business hires Apex Rotors for a few hours.
During that shoot, I might capture the outside of the business with the drone, employees working, customers interacting, close-ups of products, the building, equipment, and other details that help tell the story.
Instead of using all of that footage in one two-minute video, we can create different pieces of content from it.
The main video could go on the website.
A 20-second vertical version could become an Instagram Reel.
Another clip could show the team working behind the scenes.
Some drone footage could be used in a Facebook post.
Professional photos from the same shoot could be used on Google Business, the company website, or future social media posts.
Suddenly, one shoot is not just one video anymore.
It becomes content that could potentially be used for weeks or even months.
Social Media Needs More Content Than Ever
Social media moves fast.
A great post today can disappear from someone's feed tomorrow.
That does not mean businesses need to constantly hire a videographer every week.
Instead, the goal should be to capture enough quality content during a professional shoot that you have material ready when you need it.
You can take one longer video and turn it into several smaller pieces.
You can also reuse footage in different ways.
A clip that was originally part of a larger promotional video might become its own Reel several months later.
That gives your business more consistency without having to constantly figure out what to film next.
Your Website Needs Content Too
Social media is only part of it.
Professional video and photography can also make a major difference on a website.
When someone lands on your website, you have a short amount of time to show them what your business is about.
Real footage of your employees, location, work, products, or services immediately gives people something to connect with.
I would much rather see the actual people behind a local business than generic stock footage that could belong to any company in the country.
A content library gives you photos and video clips that can be used throughout your website.
That could include a homepage video, background clips, employee photos, service pages, portfolio images, or footage showing how your company actually works.
Show People What You Do Instead of Just Telling Them
Every business website says things like:
"Quality service."
"Professional."
"Locally owned."
"Customer focused."
Those things are important, but almost everyone says them.
Video gives you a chance to actually show people.
If you own a construction company, show the crew working.
If you run a restaurant, show the food being made.
If you own a landscaping company, show a project being transformed.
If you run an event venue, show what the space looks like when it is full of people.
If you coach a sports team or run a tournament, show the energy of the event.
People can understand what you do within seconds.
Ground Video and Drone Footage Work Better Together
This is one of the biggest changes in how I look at projects with Apex Rotors.
I love drone footage.
Aerial shots can immediately make a video feel bigger and give viewers a perspective they normally would not see.
But the drone only tells part of the story.
Ground cameras capture the details.
The people.
The expressions.
The products.
The work being done.
The small moments.
Combining ground footage, photography, and aerial video gives businesses a much bigger collection of content to work with.
Instead of having ten drone clips that all look similar, you can have a mixture of wide aerial shots, close-ups, movement, details, people, and photos.
That variety is what makes a content library useful.
Think About the Future Before the Shoot
One of the best things a business can do before hiring a videographer is think about where the content will eventually be used.
Do you need a new homepage video?
Are you trying to post more consistently on Instagram?
Do you need updated photos for Google?
Are you running Facebook ads?
Do you want short videos explaining different services?
Are you planning to hire new employees?
Knowing those things before the shoot helps us capture footage specifically for those purposes.
For example, if I know a client wants Instagram Reels, I can make sure we capture vertical footage.
If they need website content, we can capture wider shots that leave room for text.
If they want recruiting videos later, we can capture employees working and interacting.
Planning ahead can turn one shoot into a lot more usable content.
It Can Also Save Money
Professional video is an investment.
That is why I think it makes sense to get as much value from a shoot as possible.
Setting up equipment, traveling to the location, planning shots, flying the drone, filming, and organizing everything takes time.
If we are already there filming, capturing additional footage that can be used later is usually much easier than scheduling another completely separate shoot.
That does not mean every business needs hundreds of videos.
It just means thinking beyond the single finished video.
This Is Where I Want Apex Rotors to Go
When I started Apex Rotors, the drone was obviously a major part of the idea.
It still is.
But the more projects I work on, the more I realize that the drone is just one tool.
The goal is not simply to put a drone in the air and get cool footage.
It is to help businesses, organizations, teams, and people tell their stories.
Sometimes that means flying a drone.
Sometimes it means filming with a ground camera.
Sometimes it means taking photos.
Usually, the best projects use a combination of everything.
That is why I want Apex Rotors to help clients create more than just one video.
I want to help them build a collection of professional content they can actually use.
Make Your Next Shoot Work Harder
If you are thinking about hiring a photographer or videographer, do not only ask yourself:
"What video do I need?"
Ask:
"What content could my business use over the next several months?"
That small change in thinking can completely change how much value you get from a professional shoot.
Apex Rotors provides professional videography, photography, and FAA Part 107 drone services throughout Mechanicsburg and Central Pennsylvania.
Whether you need content for your website, social media, business, event, real estate listing, sports organization, or commercial project, we can build a shoot around what you actually need.
